Every time I go out for a Senior Portrait Session, I ask God to give me a glimpse of what He sees in these kids and to help me capture the beauty of who He has created them to be.
Some I know well, and other's I am meeting for the first time but each of them are unforgettable. I love to ask them questions while I am shooting. "Tell me something that makes you happy?" or "what is your favorite flavor of ice cream?" or "Is there a boy you like?".... that one always gets a fun smile... I want to know what they are passionate about and what they are looking forward to in the future. It helps me to capture a bit of their real beauty... I want to know their hopes and dreams for the future and even some of their fears. They are fighting battles and carrying burdens that people don't see and that pictures can't show. And I want to keep praying for them long after our time together.
I feel honored and privileged to take their photos. Some are comfortable in front of the camera but most feel a bit shy and awkward. "I know you feel uncomfortable," I tell them. "But we are going to do it anyway". It is a lot like the rest of life. So many things seem hard in the moment but we push through, do it anyway, and later we get to see that it was worth it.
I was blessed by each one of them and I am excited to see what life has in store for them.
Thank you for choosing me to do your photos. Your trust in me has made me better photographer and I will always be cheering you on from the sidelines. Please know that I am here for you... if you need more photos done or just some coffee and a listening ear. You are so much more than a pretty picture! You are Beauty in the Real and I am amazed at your talent and your tenacity.
